Now is the time to dream and plan for next year's garden. Join herbalist, artist, and landscaper Asha Canalos for this live-streamed online class. And take a look at her blog post, too!
Whether you want to create a peaceful garden sanctuary to support wellness and healing, or your aim is to grow efficient, productive plots of medicinal and culinary herbs- and whether you’re working with an acre, or a tiny backyard patio- smart landscape design and solid cultivation strategies will maximize the enjoyment and use of your garden space.
In this class, we’ll focus in on establishing your garden goals, mapping your garden’s unique assets, addressing any challenges in your space, and creating a basic foundational garden plan that can be adjusted season-to-season and year-to-year. With an emphasis on cultivation strategies specific to our high desert bioregion, we’ll cover some effective, hands-on approaches for planning and maintaining your space to reflect your needs, wants, and your personal garden ‘style.’ In the process, we’ll examine how form and function work together in several practical examples of herb gardens, using them as case studies and inspiration. It is suggested- but not required- that you bring along a basic diagram of your own garden space, so you can better envision how some of these strategies might work for you.
Join us for a fun deep dive into designing and caring for an herbal garden! You will walk away with instructions and worksheets for creating a basic landscape design plan and compiled resource lists for medicinal & culinary herb cultivation, empowered with the tools and vision to create YOUR healing garden!
