Food and Farming

Our program works with numerous sustainability-oriented organizations (both for-profit and not-for-profit) in the greater Albuquerque area. Many of our students attend workshops, lectures and tours offered by these organizations, and participate as community volunteers, interns and employees.

AgriCultura Network - A collaboration of South Valley farmers growing para la comunidad

Albuquerque Public Schools Growing Gardens Team - Starting gardens at schools throughout the district, and teaching students how to start and maintain gardens in Albuquerque

Ampersand Sustainable Learning Center - An off-grid demonstration site that explores sustainable living, including permaculture, land restoration, organic gardening, passive solar design, and wise water techniques

Amyo Farms - Superior Quality Produce. No Pesticides, Chemicals, or GMOs.

ARCA Organics - Producing local, organically grown fruits and vegetables, and employing individuals with developmental disabilities whose very special talents enhance all stages of the growing and distribution process

Beneficial Farms CSA - Offering affordable weekly shares of healthy, locally and regionally grown food year round

Bernalillo County Extension Office - Providing information and workshops regarding agriculture (Master Gardener Program), horticulture (Master Composter Program), community development and home economics

Bernalillo County Open Space - Protecting and managing land to benefit people, plants and wildlife, and offering resource-based recreation and environmental education (Backyard Farming Series and Master Naturalist Program)

Chispas Farms - Growing heirloom varieties of fruits and vegetables and maintains a collection of garlic seed for the Seed Savers Exchange

Dragon Farm at the South Valley Academy - A small pesticide-free farm located on the campus of South Valley Academy

Edible New Mexico - Promoting and celebrating the abundance of local foods across New Mexico

Farm to Table - Promoting locally based agriculture through education, community outreach and networking

Food Corps New Mexico - Through the hands and minds of emerging leaders, FoodCorps strives to give all youth an enduring relationship with healthy food.

Growing Awareness Urban Farm - An education-based urban farm and micro-business providing high quality, socially concious products

La Montañita Co-op - Your community-owned cooperative grocery, now with a location on UNM campus

La Semilla Food Center - Building a healthy, self-reliant, fair, and sustainable food system in the Paso del Norte region of southern New Mexico and El Paso, Texas

Mid-Region Council of Governments Agriculture Collaborative - Supporting local foods and farms and offering a monthly meeting open to all interested community members

Moktezu-Mart - An indoor farmer’s market that will be open and selling local produce all year round.

Mo-Gro - The Mobile Grocery - Eliminating “food deserts” in New Mexico so that all communities have access to healthy, affordable, and sustainably sourced foods

New Mexico Farmers' Markets - Each of New Mexico's 50 growers' markets is unique, reflecting the particular character of local cultures, soils and climate

New Mexico Food and Agriculture Policy Council - A democratic organization composed of groups and individuals working on issues around food and agriculture systems; educating and advocating for specific policy recommendations and alternatives at the local, state and national levels

Old Windmill Dairy - A New Mexico artisan and farmstead goat and cow cheese creamery

Project Feed The Hood - A food literacy and community gardening initiative of SWOP (Southwest Organizing Project) that aims to improve community health through education and revival of traditional growing methods

South Valley Economic Development Center - Providing facilities, resources, and training to support the development of new and expanding small businesses that will create jobs and foster economic revitalization of the South Valley community, while preserving the heritage and culture of the community
