Come join the Open Space Nature Guides and Trail Watch Volunteer Stewards as they discuss the flora and fauna found throughout the foothills of the Sandia Moutnains. Learn about the geology and history of the area, and view the many wonderst that the Elena Gallegos Open Space has to offer.
This is a moderately strenuous 1.26-mile guided hike, so please bring water, wear comfortable shoes, and dress appropriately for the weather. As much as we love our furry friends, please leave your pets at home because they can be a distraction, and can scare away natures's critters.
There is a $2 park entrance fee unless you are an Open Space Volunteer, or have an Annual Pass. Parking is limited so carpool if you can.
Meet at the Cottonwood Springs parking lot at Elena Gallegos Open Space. 7100 Tramway Boulevard NE. Turn east from Tramway onto Simms Park Road. Turn left just past the Park Attendant Booth.
