Bio

I am the director of the Center for Emerging Energy Technologies at the University of New Mexico, and Professor of Mechanical Engineering, with secondary appointment in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I have 12 years of experience in solar energy, thermal and PV. My current research activities focus on integration of renewables on the distribution grid. I lead projects in resource scheduling and optimization for microgrids, simulation and experiments in building energy systems, machine learning for load / resource forecasting and system controls, simulation of systems with human in the loop, fault detection using neural networks, and image analysis to geolocate and detect distribution system components. I previously worked for ten years in fluid mechanics, developing and conducting experiments as well as developing and using massively parallel simulation codes.
