Lowe's Community Planting Day at Explora!

April 15, 2018 8:00 AM
Explora - 1701 Mountain Rd NW

Explora has partnered with Lowe’s Educational Foundation as a grant recipient to improve the safety and aesthetic of our parking lot areas to create a better “science neighborhood corridor” that will serve both our visitors, but also members of the local community who use the area as a pass-through to local parks and businesses. Several components of the project are underway (eg: installation of outdoor wooden marimba exhibits, removal of larger rocks replaced with fine gravel, improvements to the irrigation system, and upgraded lighting), and we are now planning ahead for the culmination of the work which will be the Lowe’s & Explora Community Planting Day on Sunday, April 15th, from 8am-2pm. This day’s success will hinge on participation of volunteers like YOU as we prepare the grounds and plant over 50 native perennials and trees. It will be a fun day with a very visible impact that we will document and share with the local community as well as the Lowe’s Educational Foundation. We would be excited to have you as a partner in this project! Note: children are welcome with the supervision of an adult.
