UNM Main campus, Cornell Mall (east of the SUB)

Celebrate Earth Day at the University of New Mexico’s 9th Annual Sustainability Expo!

The Expo offers an opportunity to interact with sustainability-minded organizations at a variety of engaging displays and activities, including a growers’ market and a book swap. Learn about sustainable initiatives on campus and in the surrounding community, connect with local experts, and enjoy the fun, energetic atmosphere at this student-organized event.

Grab lunch at the growers’ market, and stick around for live music at noon from Sol De La Noche. The Street Food Institute and Pop Fizz food trucks will be serving up tacos and ice cream. Local farmers will offer a selection of fresh spring produce and eggs. Santa Fe Honey will be selling their delectable honey-based tepache drinks. Home gardeners can take home seedlings from Growing Awareness Urban Farm.

Both campus and community organizations will be at the event. The UNM Beekeeping Club and the Lobo Gardens will be on hand to answer questions about their campus initiatives. The Sustainability Studies Program will have a vermicomposting station with red wiggler worms and a backyard chicken demonstration. Transition ABQ and 350 New Mexico, community organizations that promote low carbon living, want to talk with students about how to incorporate sustainability into their lives. Numerous solar companies will showcase their products.

Numerous campus partners are responsible for coordinating the Expo, including the UNM Sustainability Studies Program, the UNM Office of Sustainability, and UNM Parking and Transportation Services.

Please join us for this festive and educational event!
