September 15, 2018 9:00 AM
Gutierrez-Hubbell House - 6029 Isleta Blvd SW
Since 2010, Bernalillo County Open Space and its partners have offered a free series of workshops that provides the public with practical experience and knowledge for transforming their backyards into a thriving urban oasis of food, medicine, and wildlife habitat. The guest speakers for this series are all experts in their field who present firsthand knowledge on topics such as irrigation, livestock, insects, gardening, seed saving, and much more. The workshops are held at the Gutierrez-Hubbell House History and Cultural Center.
This workshop is called Forage and Feast. Come have fun with fungi and edible weeds! Tasty wild food grows right outside your door. We will talk about how to find, process and feast on edible wild plants. We will also cover the basics of mushroom identification, nutrition, and cooking, as well as methods of growing mushrooms.
All workshops for the 2018 season are FREE and run from 9:00am to 12:00pm at the Gutierrez-Hubbell House, located at 6029 Isleta Blvd SW (3 miles south of Rio Bravo).
